LESSON 9

Students will understand:
-  Various elements of a grants application

Grants Application Overview

Teacher will provide brief overview on the various parts of common grants applications (e.g http://www.abcee.org/grants-contests-awards) including:

-  What – vision, definition of the current state and intended future state of the environmental sustainability issue including how to write a proposal letter

-  Where – setting for the work

-  Who- participants, community members, those impacted

-  How – workplan, budget considerations, success indicators

-  When – timeframes and duration of the project


Teacher will provide exemplars for students.


What, where – vision, issue and location definition

-  Teacher will provide instruction on how to define a vision, how to describe current state/future state and where their project will be set

-  Students will continue to research and work on their grant proposal requirements

LESSON 10

Students will understand:
-  Potential stakeholders that must be considered in their project

Who- participants, community members, those impacted
-  Teacher will provide instruction on how to identify potential partners, populations impacted, participants
-  Students will continue to research and work on their grant proposal requirements

Assessment

Formative: ongoing informal observation, weekly student-teacher conferencing, peer feedback, self assessment against rubric
